Question QUESTION: I'm on Mac running OX 10.4.11 and can no longer open Photoshop CS or any other Adobe programs. It tries to open them but fails as do Illustrator and Acrobat 6. Other programs like QuarkXpress open okay. I have tried trashing preferences and also re-installed the programs but no change - any ideas?
ANSWER: Hi Pete,
I would try removing the programs and before re-installing them try running Disk Utility, Repair Permissions or Onyx from Titanium Software.
Onyx is available here: http://is.gd/4IHhC
Hope this helps,

QUESTION: Thanks Glen.
Tried all that and still no luck. Perhaps I'm not using OnyX properly. InDesign CS makes the best effort to open but stops at 'Service Registry'. I decided to re-install the OX system but install fails before it gets to the first stage. Disk Utility says the hard drive is OK - I'm beginning to think this is a virus.
Answer Hi Pete,
Once Onyx has checked your hard disk, go to automation and click on Execute. That will perform all the maintenance functions and clean out the caches.
I use Virus Barrier X4 by Intego, it will work on an Intel Mac and is easy to set up and use. Yes, your problem is starting to sound like it might be a virus
Good Luck,
Glen
