Question

Page no 06
HI,
I have lot of scanned old books. The color of pages are yellow and a lot of spots on the pages. I want to remove the spots and change to yellow color to white.
Kindly help me and suggest me any action for this work.

Hi Dhananjay,

I don't know of any actions supplied with Photoshop that will work for this, but you can record your own.

To get the page white first got to Image>Adjustments> and select either Auto Levels or Auto Color, this will turn the paper white.
Then go to Image>Adjustments>Levels and adjust the input levels to approximately 15, .80 and 220. This will further whiten the paper and keep the text dark. You can save these settings to use in an action if you wish.

I would not recommend an action for this because the pages may not be of a uniform yellow and the settings are rather severe, this could yield unexpected results. Also, unless you put a stop in your action you'll have to go back and clone out any major spots, like the staple marks in the upper left corner of this page.

I would open a few pages at once and hit them with Auto Level or Auto Color using the keystroke shortcuts and then bring up the Levels window (Command/Control L) and fine tune each page, clone out the big spots, save and close. This can be done quickly and will produce far better results than an action batch processed.

Hope this helps,
