Adobe Photoshop/Photoshop text tool.

Question

So I'm pretty good at photoshop and I usually don't encounter problems, but
this one has me stumped. When I use the "Horizontal Type Tool," I drag to
make the box but when I go to type it won't let me. The cursor actually
appears up in the top right hand square of the box where you grab to
reshape the text box. It is hard to explain, but it will only type up on that top
edge in almost microscopic font. I have tried all of the settings regarding the
type tool, changed fonts and styles, and I've made sure that I am in fact using
the appropriate tool. Any helpful advice would be appreciated.
PS. The font continually tries to make itself a lime green color.

Answer
Hi Josh,

The first thing to try is to go to the character and paragraph palettes and in the flyout menu from the triangle on the upper right corner select reset character or reset paragraph. This will reset the type characteristics to the defaults.
It could be a positioning attribute in the paragraph settings is way off or the font is set to be superscript - something odd like that.

Also, and I'm guilty of doing this, make sure the text is selected when you try to change the font, size or color of your text. If you want to see the changes without the reverse selection box around it you can hit command H to hide it.

Hope this helps,
