Question
I have been using several early Adobe Photoshop Elements programs, the last one version 3.  Recently installed version 7. I CAN NOT find the embossing or drop shadow tools in this version, where are they??

Answer
Hi Joyce,

Drop Shadows and Embossing are layer styles in Photoshop Elements 7.
Move what you want the effect applied to to it's own layer and go to the effects palette and select layer styles, the second icon from the left. Apply a style.
You can edit styles by double clicking the fx icon or by going to Layers>Layer Style>Style Settings.

Hope this helps,
