Question
Kevin First I would like to thank you for taking time to answere my question.

I want to create a rip effect. A perfect example I have a tattoo of a tiger with the appearance of his claw ripping my skin. I have been trying several different filters but cannot get it right.I tried using Ripple and even smug to give that appearance but Its not giving me the same look. What would you suggest/advise?

Answer
Hi Antonio,

I would use the Brush tools and some of the artistic brushes to create the rip manually on a separate layer. You can then use that to create either a layer mask or knock out of the image below. Filters really wont give you a realistic look for something like this, doing it by hand always works better. You can always try to use the ripple after you are done to roughen up the edge more if you want.

Thanks

Kevin
