Adobe Photoshop/Logo needs improvement

Hello     I have a logo that needs help with Photoshop4. I want it to look alot better than it does now. Any suggestions on where to start in the program.?   please check out our website to see the Orange Barrel logo.     www.alwaysmebailbonds.com

Hi Tim,

For a logo to be effective it has to be able to be used on a variety of media and always be recognizable. Your logo is to busy and detailed to look good on a business card for example. A logo will be used on vehicles, shirts, websites, signage, stationery, advertising etc. I would distill it down to simple shapes and just the bare essentials - initials, barrel shape etc. You can always add the taglines later, depending on usage. If you want the barrel character in advertising he should be used separately from the logo, much like the doughboy is separate from the pillsbury logo.

One final point, you probably should create your logo in Illustrator or FreeHand rather than Photoshop, this will give you a scalable vector graphic you can employ for everything from web ads to billboards.
