Adobe Photoshop - How to measure the surface area occupied by a color?

Expert: Candice Anderson - 6/25/2009

Question
Hello:

I have a picture, and would like to know how much of the surface of the picture is occupied by certain shadows of a color that are not contiguous, something like a photograph of a zebra, how can you measure the area in the photograph that occupied by the black of the stripes?

Thank you so much for your time.

Deneb

Answer
Hey,

sorry this took so long to respond. Go to Histogram. Then click on the triangle on the right side and choose all channels. There you can see the graphs of all of the colors and by choosing from the drop down menu you can see the graphs of certain colors as well and how much value is in the picture.

Candice
