Question
I have a JPG file with a logo consisting of four spot (flat?) colors (if white counts as a color).  I need to be able to do a color separation for screen printing. I think I need to put each color into its own layer but I have no idea ow to do that. My S/W is Adobe CS4.  Can you tell me how to do that - I have virtually no familiarity with Photoshop (or any of the CS4 programs).  Thank you.

Try these steps in the meanwhile, use the Magic Wand Tool to select one the colors. Once selected go to the Layer Menu on your Menu Bar. Select "Duplicate Layer" and name this the color you selected with the Magic Wand Tool. Select the logo layer once on your Layer Options (located on your right hand side). Now select the Magic Wand Tool again and repeat the same procedure as above with the other colors and name them accordingly. This should help you out by selecting the "Layer Visibility on and off with the remaining colors (This is represented by an eye on the Layer Options on your right hand side).
