Adobe Photoshop - convert rgb to cmyk and colour match

Expert: Dyllian Rancharan - 9/24/2009

Question
hi im new to ps cs4 i know how to convert rgb to cmyk but the problem im getting its looking really dull i start playing with the saturation and level curves i cant seem to match the colors correctly could you help me please

Answer
Hi Jason,

There is no way you would be able to convert the RGB to CMYK and have the same results. It is best to start working with either or from the start and stick with it. RGB is mostly used if printing on small or office computers. CMYK is used for Commersial Presses or Industrial Printers. CMYK will always looked dull when converted from RGB. Try getting used to working with CMYK from the start if necessary.

The next thing you can do is get a pantone pallet from your local paint shop and this can help you chosing colors better without the hassle.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
Dyllian R.
