Adobe Photoshop/photoshop edit & create

Question
Since updating my anti virus I am unable to access the edit and create programs in my Photoshop Elements 5.0 program. I thought I would uninstall and reinstall to hopefully correct this problem, but wonder if I will lose all of my photos currently in my program. Any suggestions will be appreciated.  Thanks Marie

Uninstalling Photoshop should NOT erase your data files, however it's always safe to back them up FIRST before doing so.
