Adobe Photoshop/remove margin

Hello Glenn,

Thank you very much in advance for your help, it is much appreciated.
I would like to remove to the thin black margin or frame from images like the attached before I place it in a document.
I cannot work out how to do it, so I'd greatly appreciate it if you would kindly tell me how to!

Hi Frank,

Usually you can crop a photo once it has been placed in your page layout document. The way to remove a frame in Photoshop before placing your images is to use the crop tool. This is accessed by typing a "c" in Photoshop.

Once you have dragged a crop box over your image you can adjust it using the "handles" on the corners and in the middle of the dotted lines. You can enlarge the image to make fine adjustments to the crop. With you cursor placed outside the crop area it will turn into a curved double arrow icon, this allows you to rotate the crop box - great for scans that weren't made exactly straight.
