Adobe Photoshop/Photoshop 7.0 upgrade

Question
I have a MacMini, OS 10.5.8, Power PC G4 processor; I'd happily been using Photoshop 7.0 (an upgrade from 3.0), but had to take it off my computer when I upgraded my OS system, and even with Adobe tech support have been unable to re-install it. SOoo, it appears I have to leave my Photoshop 7 and move on to ??? What would be my best option: InDesign? Photoshop CS3? I am a desktop publisher and do layout in Quark but have prepared illustrations in Photoshop. Grateful for advice.

Answer
Hi Mary,

I don't think you can upgrade to CS5 because you need an Intel processor, so you'll have to upgrade to Photoshop CS4 or less. That being said, Adobe make it attractive to buy the whole Creative Suite forcing many users to abandon Quark. I would contact Adobe for pricing options on upgrading to Photoshop CS2 or higher. They also offer discounts for Photoshop owners to upgrade to the entire Creative Suite. The Suite includes Photoshop, InDesign for layouts and Illustrator - the industry leader for vector illustrations, and can include Acrobat Professional.

A less expensive alternative would be to get Photoshop Elements - a light version of Photoshop for home use. If you only use Photoshop for minor retouching, this would be the ticket. Although it doesn't have all the bells and whistles of the full version of Photoshop, it's still a very powerful image editor.

Hope this helps you decide,
