Adobe Photoshop/Removing text from image in Photoshop

Question
I am trying to remove the text from my image in photoshop. It is saved as a jpeg. I need to change the wording and am not sure the best way to go about this.

Answer
Hi Robyn,

Since the image is a jpeg I know that it has been flattened and the only way to remove the text is to clone it out using the rubber stamp tool or paint over it with a brush using a color matching the background.

When you add your text back in using the text tool, make sure you save your original as either a layered tiff or a .psd (native photoshop) document. This will keep the text on it's own layer for future editing. Then you can save a copy as a jpeg or flattened tiff.

Once the text layer is flattened the text is rasterized, which means instead of editable text it is converted into pixels and incorporated into the image.

Hope this helps,
