Question
QUESTION: I have a .tlf image in B/W  and want to change the black to red. How do i do it.

ANSWER: Hi Howard,

Make sure you are in Grayscale mode, Image>Mode>Grayscale. Then convert it to a monotone by going to Image>Mode>Duotone... In the dialog box select Monotone for the type from the pop up menu. For ink one click in the black box to bring up the color picker, click on Custom to access the Pantone color books, and select the red you want.

Save your image as a Photoshop eps file to print in a spot color or you may convert it to another color space, RGB for the web or CMYK for process printing.

Hope this helps,

QUESTION: The color changes as you instruct but when I try to place it in an inDesign
document it reverts back to black. Is there an answer for this?

Answer
Hi,

Make sure to save it as a Photoshop EPS file and that the preview is set to 8 bits/pixel for either the Macintosh or Tiff for the PC from the Preview pop-up menu, to retain the color in InDesign.
