Adobe Photoshop/Photoshop 5.0 color not printing like image

Question
Hey, Glen...
I am a total beginner here.  I just had Photoshop 5.0 installed last week.  I have Windows XP.  I've used 2.0 a little in the past.  The old XP crashed, so this is a rebuilt.
I only work with paint bucket and color palette to fill in my own artwork (scanned pen and ink).
Before, when I used 2.0, the colors printed out pretty close to what I put on using the color palette.  Now, when I print out the artwork after using the paint palette, it seems like the blues are missing, so I am not printing out what I selected using paint bucket.  We tried some basic troubleshooting, like even cleaning the printer head, but can't figure out if it is some minor adjustment in Photoshop, or if it is an adjustment with Windows, or the printer (same Epson printer as I used with 2.0, by the way) or what?  Any thoughts/ideas appreciated.
Thanks.

Answer
Hi Dan,

I'm sorry, I don't remember how Photoshop 5 handled color profiles, but check under either preferences or File or Image>Color Handling or Color Settings and make sure you have default profiles being used; Apple or Adobe RGB and a SWOP profile for CMYK.

Try making a pdf with known solid color values, Red, Blue, Green, Cyan Magenta and Yellow and print this from different programs (Acrobat Reader) to see if your system needs calibration or Photoshop is the culprit.

You may also try to contact Epson to see if they can troubleshoot/calibrate the printer. They may have a support website to allow you to print test prints.

Hope this helps,
