Question
QUESTION: Hi Kevin
hope you can help me Using photoshop PS3 i have composed some photos, i took the portriate on 8meg but the background i downloaded from web, when i go to print & enlarge them they tell me that the resolution is to low, is it possible to change the resolution to a higher one
many thanks jada

ANSWER: Hi Jada,

No unfortunately, you will have to find a larger background image to start with. If you try to enlarge a smaller, lo-res file you will end up with a larger, pixelated image. Taking images from the web can be a tricky business, always check the resolution and size in Image>Image Size before you even start working on it.

Thanks

QUESTION: hi Kevin thanks for the information
what resolution do i need to be able to enlarge photo to size 75 x 100cm
thanks jada

Answer
Hi Jada,

The question is your resolution. You need a file at least 300 dpi 75 x 100 cm. This means you can find a lower res, larger file that you can resample into the proper size using your Image>Image Size and turning off the resample check box.

Thanks

Kevin
