Adobe Photoshop/scanning resolution

Question
hello!  i have a hard copy of a photo size 4x5 cm, if i want to reprint it in 4R, how do i calculate the resolution needed for scanning?

Answer
Hi Chez,

To print at 4R you'd need to enlarge it 300%. If you are printing traditional offset you would scan it at 900dpi. If you are printing these on an inkjet printer, find out the resolution of the printer and triple it for your optimum scanning resolution. Increase the resolution if you need to crop the picture after scanning.

Hope this helps,
