Adobe Photoshop/Batch converting 300dpi layered PSD files to 72dpi Jpg

Question
Hi I have created an action in PS CS5 to simply open>save for web & devices jpg>close. Then I batch automate the images in the folder specified, it goes through the process as I watch, but then the result is the same PSD files - they do not change one bit. The file name is still .psd, the dpi and even mode is still CMYK. I looked at the action and confirmed the Save for web specified the RGB and Jpg formats. When I do this with the ONE that I use to record my action it works fine on that ONE. but when I batch it with the automated setting, it goes through the motions, but in the end does not save it at all. I was reading up on the web and saw that perhaps if I put a 'flatten' step in the action it may work, so I tried that and it didn't make a difference. Please help!!! I need to get these converted and to a client! thank you!

Answer
Hi Teri,

Things changed a little in CS5 with actions. Instead of using save for web and devices, try this:

Open a file. Record an action using Image Size to change the resolution and size.

Then go to Bridge, find the appropriate folder and go to Tools>Photoshop>Image Processor. This will allow you to batch save files as a jpg. At the bottom of the dialog box is a check box for actions. This will access your Image Size action and save them as a jpg.

Thanks

Kevin
