Adobe Photoshop/color matching

Question
I'm using Adobe 5.0 and trying to create business cards from photos I've taken with my Canon G9 powershot. I'm now using the RAW function of the camera , just jpeg. After making some color corrections and contrast/brightness adjustments, I'm pleased with what I print out on my HP officejet. But when I send the file in CMYK format to the publisher some of the colors are much different. What do I or the publisher need to know about the other to correct this issue?

Answer
Hi Ralph,

Make sure to convert a copy of your image to CMYK before proofing it on your Officejet. Converting to CMYK in itself will change a lot of colors, click here for a more detailed explanation; http://www.bestprintingonline.com/cmyk-color.htm#converted

Make sure your officejet is color calibrated. HP should have information on how to do this, depending on your model printer. At the very least print out a test page and compare the CMYK color swatches to swatches from your publisher.

Hope this helps,
