Hi Kevin, I have a photo taken through my scope. So, there is staff around the organism I want out. I Have Photo-shop Cs2 on a MAC G5.

I created the layer but somehow when I finish highlight the area I was to saved the layer disappeared and I can not find it.

The I duplicate the extract layer that is still on the history bar, I merged and still no layer extracted to work on the screen.

Please, could you help me? I went to a youtube for layer extracting but I am missing steps, that either I don't see or its assumed,

Many Thanks
Elizabeth

Answer
Hi Elizabeth,

Extracting onto a layer has nothing to do with the history palette so just close that for now. Lets start fresh. Make your selection on the layer containing the image using whatever tool you wish. The magic wand will probably work best. Then with the item selected, go to the Layer menu and choose "New Layer Via Copy". This will create a new layer of just the image that you can then use.

Thanks and Happy Holidays!
