Adobe Photoshop/Hue/Saturation

Question
QUESTION: Hi Kevin,

I am using Photoshop Elements 6.

What drives me crazy is everytime I want to alter the hue/sturation of an image it is set to the last time used. I have to go down all the colours zeroing them before I can do my new settings for the new image. Is there any way that once used the hue/saturation can go back to each colour set on zero again, or else an easier way to quickly zero them all? In my older version of Photoshop this annoying thing never happened.
Thanks.

ANSWER: Hi Phillip,

Are you making corrections in Quick Fix or full edit? I have long since uninstalled 6, but I can try to find out what is going on. Normally this sounds like and adjustment layer used in Full Edit in one image. I have never seen this happen when you switch to a whole new document and apply a new adjustment.

Let me know some more details and I can try to help.

Thanks

Kevin

QUESTION: Hello Kevin,

Sorry I haven't replied quicker but it's been one of those weeks!

I'm using full edit. But the settings on the Hue/saturation stay as I last used them. For example if on Master I've slid the Saturation slider fully to the left to -100 which of course will desaturate all the colours, click OK to make the change then close the relevant file. When I open a new file to work on & go to the Hue/Saturation to make a different adjustment it automatically desaturates -100 as my last file. As I said before I have to go through all the colours zeroing them before I can make a new alteration. It is really annoying!

On my old Mac I used to use the old Photoshop 7 which was a deam to use, but unfortunately it won't run on my new Mac, so not being able to afford a professional Photoshop I had to go for Elements 6, which is really cranky to use after the one I was sued to. I still occasionally boot up my old Mac to do serious Photoshop work.

Another really irrtating thing with Elements 6 is when I'm working with layers, when I change a tool it swiches  the layer I am working on back to the Background layer & I find I'm working on the wrong layer, it is crazy!

Are the more recent versions of Elements any better? I cannot afford the professional CS5 unfortunately.
I wish the old Photoshop 7 ran on my Macbook Pro - all would be solved!

Answer
Hi Phillip,

If photoshop 7 is too old to run on your computer that makes the answer a little easier if not as pleasant. If you have a newer computer, it could be that elements 6 is not compatible either. I checked everything I have from elements 6 and nothing came up.  Elements 9 Is much improved.

Thanks

Kevin
