Adobe Photoshop/printing dvd case cover

Question
I'm using Photoshop CS5. I'm trying to print a DVD case cover that I created. My image/canvas dimensions are 7.24 x 10.98. When I print the actual file, the 7.24 part prints fine but the 10.98 part prints about 1/2 inch short. It doesn't cut my picture off, it shrinks my picture by the 1/2 inch. It tells me before I print that my image is too large, which it is not. If I tell it that I'm printing on 8.5 x 14 (legal) size paper, my file prints correctly. I've tried to change my canvas size to 8.5 x 11, I've tried to tell it I'm printing on borderless photo paper, I've changed my resolution to 300dpi from 200dpi.... nothing works! I don't know why it's doing this and I don't know how to fix it.

Answer
Hi Kimberly,

The "borderless" option on most printers is a misnomer, in that the printer will print to the edge of the sheet width but still needs a margin at the top or bottom to grip the sheet as it goes through the printer.
The fact that it prints correctly on 8.5 x 14 tells me the problem is with the printers handling of the file. You will have to change the orientation of the sheet and grip it on the 11 inch side or print on a larger sized sheet of paper.

Hope this helps,
