Hi Glen,

I have been learning by myself on photoshop 7.0
I would like to ask you, the best things to learn and is it possible to make a living from photoshop? I have dabbled in dreamweaver and built one or 2 websites, not great, but ok...but I want to concentrate on one thing, not jack of all trades, but good at one thing :-))))

Hi Carol,

You can make a living using Photoshop but you will have to work for a large company. I don't think you can make a living just doing Photoshop work piecemeal.

If you want to work with photographers and do retouching I would recommend the books by Katrin Eismann and Kevin Ames.

You can also create art in Photoshop and for this you'll want to study Bert Monroy.

You could also work in an Agency preparing artwork for printing. Here I would highly recommend the Dan Margulis book on Professional Photoshop.

Whatever discipline you choose to pursue their are groups online and elswhere that share your interest and can help with tutoring and sharing resources. NAPP (http://www.photoshopuser.com/) is a great choice for starters as it covers all areas of Photoshop and has a huge online archive of tutorials.
