Question
After I type my text, it creates a layer but the text doesn't show. I've selected the text and tried changing color, size...etc. I've even tried just making a whole new file. it won't show. HELP!!

Answer
Hi Jayme,

There are a few things to try -
First make sure your text layer is in it's proper place (i.e. not masked or hidden by another layer).

Next, check your character settings to make sure you have everything defaulted (12pt type, auto leading, no baseline shift, etc.)

Finally try using another font. Some "creative" fonts react differently in PS than in other programs. For instance I have a font that ends up 12 pts above the baseline when I type, so I have to move it down manually every time. It could be that your font is showing up, but is off screen.

If you trying using a basic font such as Arial or Times and it still does not show up, the last resort is to reset your PS preferences. Quit the app, then relaunch it. As soon as you double click or start up the app immediately hold Shift+Opt+Cmd on a Mac, or Shift+Ctrl+Alt on a PC. It will come up with a confirmation dialog box before the startup screen begins. Hit yes, and delete the preferences. If your app opens and it did not show that, you were too slow, quit and try again.

Thanks

Kevin
