Adobe Photoshop/removing blemishes from a picture

Question
Hi

I’m working on a picture in the size of 100x70 cm  and there are lots of spots and blemishes in the background of the picture .I need to get rid of them . Because size of the picture is big I can’t just use  patch or healing brush. I need a tool more adequate and convenient. I tried blurring the background , it seemed good solution at first but then I noticed some wavy lines appearing at the background so          
blurring the background couldn’t help me either. Now I need your help. How I can get rid of blemishes of a big size photo in a convenient fast way . Thanks in advance .

Without seeing the picture, it's hard to advise you. However, if it's that bad, you're going to need to rebuild all of it. It takes some artistic ability, but anyone can do it. I talk a little bit about it and demonstrate in this video http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLDEE71C7830EBA4EE
