Adobe Photoshop/Ref: question

Good day
Lets say that I design a logo in adobe illustrator or photoshop and the logo is round. How do I save the round logo and remove the edges of the square background. The page I designed the logo on is square and the logo is round - so there is a space on the four edges. What can one do to remove the spaces on the four edges when saving the logo - so that one gets a round logo.

All images are based on square height and width. So you cannot make a round image. However you can make a transparent layer from the Background Layer. Double click it and click OK when it gives you a dialog box called "Layer 0". After that create your round logo. Notice the edges are transparent (checkerboard shapes). Now save as GIF, PNG or a layered format such as PSD to maintain the transparency "round" appearance.

Ask me about anything related to working on your photos in Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Photoshop Elements: Tools, functions, color, contrast, manipulation, restoration and scanning.

Since 1999, I have served as a digital photo retoucher for companies of all sizes, including United Airlines, K-Mart. I also serve individuals with their personal photos. This includes training through my video courses. Ask me about anything related to working on your photos: Color, contrast, manipulation, restoration, software, hardware. I run a no-charge photo retouching and restoration how-to YouTube channel here: I also run a blog full of great advice:
