Adobe Photoshop/Adjustments Won't Stick

Question
Hi there. I hope you can help me!

I have been working with an artist on a Photoshop project - she is a printmaker and she wants to design a few images to make into plates for an upcoming project. I am a photographer and I have been using Photoshop since version 1 so I consider myself pretty proficient with it - that is why this problem has me so stumped!

I have been working on this project on her computer, not mine. Suddenly, and for no apparent reason, we are no longer able to make any adjustments to any images. When we try applying a filter, or altering the curves, or the brightness/contrast, it looks like a change is happening, but when we hit OK, the change we have made completely disappears!

The computer is a Mac, a fairly new one, the Photoshop is CS 2.0.1 - I've troubleshooted as best I can, and I can't figure out the problem. Do you have any ideas???

THANK YOU!

Answer
hey,

The only thing I can think of is that you are working in a Raw or 16-bit image. You can't do much with that.

or Bitmap, or Index.

or, you may have accidentally turned something on - if you're not working in Raw, reset your default settings and see if that doesn't clear it up.

Good luck!
