Question
QUESTION: I'm trying to build a certificate in Adobe Photoshop cs2.  Are there any
certificate templates in photoshop?

Certificate like any other ex. education/awards/banquets.

ANSWER: Sorry, no.

My suggestion is to check stock websites for a photo of a certificate, but there are no sample files regarding certificates. Be careful when creating that your resolution is high enough that your text does not pixelate.

QUESTION: Gotcha, Thanks.

How do I change the color of the background.  It's white and I would like a different color. The tricky part is making the color a bit old looking.  Almost like a treasure map color.  Gold with wrinkles maybe?

Answer
To change the background color, click the background swatch (normally white) on your tool bar. This will bring up the color picker. Choose your color. Then hit ctrl+delete (pc)/cmd+delete (mac) to fill the layer with the background color.

There is no real way to create a gold color in Photoshop, but heres a trick to create an aged paper look.

After you have filled your background with your color, create a new layer. Next, choose a foreground color like a dark brown. Then go to filter>render>clouds or difference clouds to fill that layer with a pattern, then change your layer opacity to 40% with a blending mode set to multiply or darken.
