Question
I followed your directions from 10/24/04 with typing (Q) picking brush, brushing (red) item to cut, press Q, I see the selection of what I have made, Copy and paste - i get the whole picture with a white head - tried doing Ctrl+Alt+l, same thing == HELP

Answer
Hello Jyne, your question is not clear enough to answer, If you are trying to cut out an image, the quick selection steps are fine, but to paste another image behind,

you have to inverse the selection (Ctrl+Alt+I),
mask the layer (see layer window bottom icons) and then
paste an image behind that image (under your foreground layer)
