Hello,

I am trying to delete the background on a picture of a ring that I would like to sell on ebay.  I want the background to be either black or white.  Can you please tell  me how to do this?

hello,

use the pen tool to select the ring.
using it is the best way to learn it.
Note: Alt + clicking you points that you will make with the pen, will stop the line from going nuts and you will see.

when done, go to you paths tab, it's with the layers box.
Apple click (ctrl, click) the path you've made.
Hit apple, shift, I to select inverse.

go to your layers, create a new layer and put it under the ring

delete the selected background

paint the empty layer with whatever color you want as a background.
