Adobe Photoshop/Deleting Background

Question
Hello,

I am trying to delete the background on a picture of a ring that I would like to sell on ebay.  I want the background to be either black or white.  Can you please tell  me how to do this?

its simple,

Make selection of your ring through LASSO, PATH or simply by selecting background in 'SELECT > SIMILAR' (you have to select a small area before apllying this)


Invert this selection (CTRL+I)

press delete from keyboard
