Answer
Dear Barry,

Printing sizes does increases due to high quality resolution files, but saving in JPG is not a good solution to deal with, JPG has a compression technique that may rapidly reduce your file size but also decrease your file's quality and you will get nothing but a jaggy/bad quality image after printing

TIFF or EPS are the formats that can go with printing files. For the compression you can use LZW compression in TIFF file.

To decrease the file size try to reduce the layers, as less as the layers in file, you will get a reduced file size
