I'm using PhotoShop in CS2. I had multiple files opened at one point and when attempting to open another, it would open, but was not visible. I can see it in the Navigator and Layer panels, but it is not visible. I try to open a new document and I get a blank on the Navigator and Layer panels, but no blank in the working area. Any suggestions? Thank you, and I look forward to your response.

Do what?  
I think I know what you are asking, and if do, you have too many files open.  Once photoshop hits 10 files open, it gets weird.  Close some, and you should be fine. If not...umm...memory problem, I'm honestly really sure.
