Question
My names is Daniel, I'm using a P.C. and Photoshop 7.0. I have a image of a car that I would like to make have a glass reflection. As if it was being showcased of a glass floor.  The background is black and the car is white I'm finding it very difficult to line up the duplicated layer with the original layer.  Can you PLEASE HELP! I would really appreciate any help you could give me. THANKS

Answer
Hi Daniel,

I can't see your image so I can't tell you what's preventing you from lining up your duplicate layer. Off the top of my head, I would advise you to make sure you don't have any Snap functions turned out -- and these are under the View pulldown menu.

If you like you can email me your image at lizal@little-works.com and I'll take a look at it and see if I can make any suggestions.

In the meantime, here are some tutorials on glass and reflections:

Matter of fact, there are several "reflection" tutorials on that site:

Hope this helps -- if they don't, I'll look at your file and see if I can help that way.

I've used Photoshop since the release of version 2. I taught college commercial art and graphic design for 10 years, and within that realm, taught Photoshop at every level, and with each successive product upgrade. My experience with Photoshop is thus extensive and well-rounded, from photo retouching to color adjustment to incorporating Photoshop and ImageReady into Web design. I am primarily a Mac user (since 1985), but am also PC-savvy.

Experience

I've been a graphic designer for 22 years, was a national magazine art director, a designer for the Department of Defense, a college art instructor, and have my own freelance Web and graphic design business, LittleWorks (www.little-works.com). I've also worked for several printing companies, in both prepress and art.
