QuestionHi
I was wondering if you can explain the step by step procedure on how to click on a color and paint it onto a layer. I am trying to paint ( copy ) a painting as it is with the methods of usuing the magic wand. This is a art project for school. All I have to do is select a painting from the web. Save it and then copy the paiting and the colors, texture as it is on to layers and then flatten them. This is so that I can master the technique. So far am I am complete novice and I don't know the step by step procudure. I am however good at using the mouse to fill the colors. I am using a Mac at school. Thanks for your help in advance.

AnswerHello Nandita,
The magic wand technique is not so good. You should have use lasso or pen tool to make selections,
1. Open the copied painting in Photoshop; we will call it a 'master' painting here.
2. Either makes layers in master file or copy this file into your own document.
3. Make selections of each area by using lasso or pen tool, and fill the colors as shown, make layers of every separate object to move/adjust in its shape.
4. Highlight the areas to enhance the painting. You can use brush, gradient tools while selecting the specific area and light/dark color tones of the same object's color.
Let me show you my paintings, which I created from a photograph using the procedure I am telling you. Check it here,

You just fill out the colors in areas and highlight it by different color tones, selection is also important as it maintain the shape.
Try that, you will get what you want, :)
