Adobe Photoshop/Limiting Colors in Photoshop

Question
Hello,

I am entering a t-shirt contest in which I am required to ubmit a design with 5 or less "unique" colors...  I am using Adobe Photoshop Elements 4.0.  I was wondering how I might go about keeping a design to 5 colors or less...  I am not "painting".  My method has been to scan an object I think would look good on a t-shirt and then change the colors and its composure around a bit.  But what happens, even when I try to keep 5 colors or less, I have tiny half-tones.  So... have any ideas on keeping the color pallete to 5 colors or less?  Please help if you can.  Thanks

-Tucker

Answer
Hi, I have no idea about the Photoshop Elements, but for Photoshop, Yes.

You can work on Spots colors as the normal color will have the halftone which may not be printable for T-shirts.

For spot color printing you can work on Channels. Otherwise try duotone (Image > Mode > Duotone.)

The solid channels (100% shade of one color) will be the solid color after printing. You can choose as much channels as you require

Try this! I hope this will help. Feel free to ask anything further
