Adobe Photoshop/Making everything the same size
Expert: Huma Riaz - 12/31/2004
QuestionHello,
I have a website where I display pictures of the products I sell. I use a small picture on my gallery pages, a medium sized picture on the product detail page and a large picture if my customer chooses to click a “view larger image” link. As my website grows, I am getting into different types of products where the image dimensions are different from one product to another. In an effort to keep my website consistent, is there an easy way where I can make all my product images the same size. For example: If I have a picture of a CD, a DVD, and a Yoga Mat, how can I make it so they are all roughly the same size? Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks!
AnswerDear Brian,
The process is a bit lengthy but the result will be the way you want your images to be seen.
Every image can have different dimensions, and would look distort from original if using a thumbnail preview.
To get rid of this problem, create a page in Photoshop as your master page, and copy and paste all your images one by one in this file and adjust them as you want. (Transform and nudge) place the images in separate layers as required and save each layer as a file. Try to use the naming convention to be easily recognizable serial queue i.e. img024.jpg.
To save your time, you can use Photoshop's actions command for repeated saving and transforming function.
Follow the same procedure for the large size images, so that it will also be on the same size required by you.
Now you can use these images as a list of your product items anywhere on website.
