Adobe Photoshop/Pallettes

Question
I am new to Photoshop and I have version CS.  I have put my working
pallettes where I want them and I want to keep them where they are.  Is
there a way I can fix these locations so whenever I open Photoshop CS
they will be in the same places? I am using a Mac ibook and Tiger OS.

Thank You,

Kath

Answer
Hi Kath,

I'm sure you'll find this pretty easy to do. In Photoshop CS, just click and hold on the Window pulldown menu and select the submenu Workspace. You'll see where it says "Save Workspace." Select this subcommand, and you'll be asked to name your workspace. This means you're giving your palette locations a name -- identifying them as a set -- and they'll be saved to the Preferences folder in your user libraray, in a folder called Workspaces that's located within your Adobe Photoshop Preferences folder.

Any time you want to create a new set of palette locations, just place the palettes where you want them, and repeat those steps.

If you want to delete a workspace you've created, just select the Delete Workspace command in that same submenu. You'll be asked to confirm, and if you say OK, the workspace will be deleted.

Hope this helps!

Expertise

I've used Photoshop since the release of version 2. I taught college commercial art and graphic design for 10 years, and within that realm, taught Photoshop at every level, and with each successive product upgrade. My experience with Photoshop is thus extensive and well-rounded, from photo retouching to color adjustment to incorporating Photoshop and ImageReady into Web design. I am primarily a Mac user (since 1985), but am also PC-savvy.

Experience

I've been a graphic designer for 22 years, was a national magazine art director, a designer for the Department of Defense, a college art instructor, and have my own freelance Web and graphic design business, LittleWorks (www.little-works.com). I've also worked for several printing companies, in both prepress and art.
