Hi,
I am using C.S. and would like to know how to hand paint or
hand tint in pastel shades, and metalic shades. So far I have
used colour burn to good effect but cannot get the tone I wish.

hey there,

Pastel, I'm not sure about.  Look at the pantones in your color palatte.  That's where ususally grab pastel and light colors.  

Metalic can be made by using filters.  My favorite is the chrome technique:

this has quit a few steps.  Its meant for text, but can be used for objects as well.
