Adobe Photoshop/PhotoShop jpeg files

Question
QUESTION: Hi Candace,  You helped me before and I appreciate it.  I'm having a problem converting some PSD files to jpeg files to put on a disk.  The original files are multi layered.  When I duplicate them in the image menu, flatten the files, and then try to saveas I get a short menu with no jpeg option. This happens with 6 of the files. If I save it as a tiff the try to backtrack to jepeg it still won't let me save it as a jpeg.  Out of 24 files about 6 do this. Four of the 6 tiff of the tiff files are black in the open box for PhotoShop.  When I look at those 4 to try to copy to a disk nothing will copy.  Also my nikon browser camera program will not allow me to open any of the tiff files. It says it is not a supported image file.
After all that.  Why doesn't PhotoShop allow me to make jpegs out of all 24 files?  What am I doing wrong?

ANSWER: Hey Debbie,

...When I duplicate them in the image menu, flatten the files, and then try to saveas I get a short menu with no jpeg option: Go to file, Save a copy - there should be a .jpeg option there. If not, and you are in raw format, someone has gone corrupt in those files.

...Four of the 6 tiff of the tiff files are black in the open box for PhotoShop: If they open, don't worry about it. Sometimes, it does this.

...When I look at those 4 to try to copy to a disk nothing will copy: Files may be corrupted.

...Also my nikon browser camera program will not allow me to open any of the tiff files. It says it is not a supported image file: Most viewing programs that come with camera don't support .tiff - it's supposed to be viewing pics only :)

...After all that.  Why doesn't PhotoShop allow me to make jpegs out of all 24 files?  What am I doing wrong - Wait, you said uptop that you only had 6 files with problem?

Off the top of my head, I'd say you have corrupt files. But I may be wrong. Update your drivers, your adobe files and your computer and see if that doesn't help. :)

QUESTION: Can you tell me how files get corrupted?

Answer
If I knew, I'd avoid it :)

mmm...it could be a number of things - the card is old or acting up, the camera is being silly, there's a virus, I really don't know, nor know if that's really the problem.

I would suggest doing everything I said before, and also research a little about Raw photos and your Nikon camera.
