Question
I am having trouble with Photoshop 7.0.1 recognizing any .gif files, although they do show up in image ready.  I cannot "save for web" in ANY format.  This selection appears in gray, which means it cannot be used.  Have I created a layer or some other anomaly that is preventing me from recognizing .gif files or the ability to save images to the web?

Answer
hmm...
no, something sounds wrong with your program. Unless they are somehow how locked, which I'm not sure how that works.

(do you have a legit copy? -  if not, that could be the problem...)

Try updating your files. Most of the time updates fixes problems.

or...open them up in image ready and save them as a .psd, jpeg, anything else besides .gif and THEN open them up on photoshop.
