Question
I was reading the system requirements for Photoshop CS, and I noticed that it says Pentium III or 4.

I have an Intel Celeron 1.2 GHz, but I suppose that is not be enough?

Thanks,
Dan

Answer
Hi Dan,

Here's how you can tell if your computer is a Pentium III:

1. Click on the Start button

2. Right-click on My Computer

3. On the menu that you'll see, click on Properties, and you'll see the specs for your machine listed, and you'll see if you hav a Pentium III processor.

There are additional requirements; these come from the Adobe site:

Microsoft® Windows® 2000 with Service Pack 3 or Windows XP

192MB of RAM (256MB recommended)

280MB of available hard-disk space

Color monitor with 16-bit color or greater video card

1,024x768 or greater monitor resolution

CD-ROM drive

Internet or phone connection required for product activation
------

If you have any doubts, ask the reseller (or tech support at www.adobe.com) before you buy. Photoshop is very RAM-intensive, and aside from having the right processor, I'd have as much RAM installed as you can. Adobe recommends 256MB, but it never hurts to have more.

Hope this helps!

Lisa

Expertise

I've used Photoshop since the release of version 2. I taught college commercial art and graphic design for 10 years, and within that realm, taught Photoshop at every level, and with each successive product upgrade. My experience with Photoshop is thus extensive and well-rounded, from photo retouching to color adjustment to incorporating Photoshop and ImageReady into Web design. I am primarily a Mac user (since 1985), but am also PC-savvy.

Experience

I've been a graphic designer for 22 years, was a national magazine art director, a designer for the Department of Defense, a college art instructor, and have my own freelance Web and graphic design business, LittleWorks (www.little-works.com). I've also worked for several printing companies, in both prepress and art.

Awards and Honors
PICA award (Printing Industry of the Carolinas Award for the design of a media kit that accompanied a magazine I was art directing at the time)
