Question
Why are my images defaulting to 72 when I open them in Photoshop 6.0? If I open them in other programs they come up as 300. Is there a default setting I missed? Thanks for any help

Answer
hey there,

are these .jpg, .gif, .pdf, .eps, etc...?

I'm not entirly sure without knowing what kindof images you have.  It depends on how you are getting them, if they came from a camera, scanner...

and by programs, are these other versions of photoshop, or other programs?

to the best of my knowledge, the reason why is because 72 dpi is the default.  Now, sometimes when I open files from a very nice camera they are 300. But if you are pulling from a low pixel camera, web or clipart, then it will be 72.  However, it's not hard to change, you can either go to image, image size and change to 300 or make a new file with 300 dpi and drag the 72dpi picture into the 300 file.
