Question
I've  used the slice tool to divide a page for web into gif segments.  They all uploaded fine to www.thelawandtheword.net.  I am now trying to figure out how to link individual gifs to sub pages in photoshop 6.0.Can you help?  It would be fantastic as  I don't have golive or dreamweaver and I'm trying to build the whole site in photoshop.  Also does photoshop have an auto-size function for the page?  Thanks for your help!

Answer
Hi Isaac,

I really don't think you can do what you're asking through Photoshop. But then again, I'm not entirely sure, because I use Dreamweaver, and I also tweak my code by hand.

I think you'd have better luck if you did your preliminary layouts in Photoshop, jumped to ImageReady and did your slicing there, and output the HTML from ImageReady. Then you'd already have your code set up for you, and it would be possible to do the whole site in Photoshop, with the help of ImageReady.

And as far as the auto-size function in Photoshop, I don't think that's available.

But do try outputting your HTML from ImageReady. I do this a lot, and have found that it works just fine.

Hope this helps!

Expertise

I've used Photoshop since the release of version 2. I taught college commercial art and graphic design for 10 years, and within that realm, taught Photoshop at every level, and with each successive product upgrade. My experience with Photoshop is thus extensive and well-rounded, from photo retouching to color adjustment to incorporating Photoshop and ImageReady into Web design. I am primarily a Mac user (since 1985), but am also PC-savvy.

Experience

I've been a graphic designer for 22 years, was a national magazine art director, a designer for the Department of Defense, a college art instructor, and have my own freelance Web and graphic design business, LittleWorks (www.little-works.com). I've also worked for several printing companies, in both prepress and art.
