Adobe Photoshop/Pixelated photos .jpeg

Question
Hi Candice,

I've used photoshop for years, so this is kinda embarassing. I've recently had my hard drive erased and loaded with a new operating system. I reloaded my photoshop 5.5 and the 7.0 upgrade. I went thru the monitor calibration and the color wizard. My problem is this (did not have the problem before reloading): I open a photo .jpeg to do a color adjust, the photos were muddy from poor lighting. I went in and color corrected and when I used auto contrast or contrast sliders portions of the image are pixelated rather than a continuous tone - almost like I need anti-alasing! I'm sure there is a setting or preference that would fix this, but I'm clueless. What do I need to do? As I mentioned, they were fine before I reloaded the program and this never happened. I can send examples of pre-reload photos and post-reload photos - if you need to see a visual difference. Thank you!

Answer
hey there,

hmmm....that's weird.  I would say it's because you are probably at 72 dpi, but if you had them fine before...

are you on the intel mac? You might be having a program problem.
