Question
Can you please send me a few free Textile photoshop tutorials? I use a PC XP with Photoshop 7 and Illustrator 10. I teach basic Photoshop but I want to be able to teach textile and watercolor techniques. Thank you for whatever you can offer.

Mike

Answer
Wow, what do you know? How many days later and I can FINALLY post an answer to a question?! This site drives me crazy!

Anyway -- I found some tutorials you might want to check out. Also, these sites have always seemed pretty reputable and reliable, so if you don't see what you want, you could probably email the site hosts and ask for what you need.

1. http://graphicssoft.about.com/od/photoshop/l/blpinkflannel.htm
This is OLD! Photoshop 4.0, in fact, but the effect is still the same, a textile pattern. Maybe you could adapt it to what you're teaching.

2. http://www.myjanee.com/tuts/patterns/patterns.htm
She has quite a few tutorials on her site that might be able to help...

3. http://www.digitalmediadesigner.com/articles/viewarticle.jsp?id=33276
You can download some pretty cool brushes here...

4. and from that same site, here are more:

Some of those last brushes look like they might be useful for watercolor effects.

Hope these help, and sorry for the delay in answering. For several days, whenever I'd submit an answer, the AllExperts server would return a timeout and I couldn't post. ARGH!

Expertise

I've used Photoshop since the release of version 2. I taught college commercial art and graphic design for 10 years, and within that realm, taught Photoshop at every level, and with each successive product upgrade. My experience with Photoshop is thus extensive and well-rounded, from photo retouching to color adjustment to incorporating Photoshop and ImageReady into Web design. I am primarily a Mac user (since 1985), but am also PC-savvy.

Experience

I've been a graphic designer for 22 years, was a national magazine art director, a designer for the Department of Defense, a college art instructor, and have my own freelance Web and graphic design business, LittleWorks (www.little-works.com). I've also worked for several printing companies, in both prepress and art.

Awards and Honors
PICA award (Printing Industry of the Carolinas Award for the design of a media kit that accompanied a magazine I was art directing at the time)
