Question
Hi Lisa,
Sorry for not giving you enough info about 4x5 printing. Basically what I was trying to do is print about 400 images without having to crop each
one. It would be very time consuming. So what I do
is go to print package-pull in 4 images-go to image size-change to 11.5-go to printer and select
borderless. This gets me close (3 3/4 x 5 3/4).
These are being printed on 8.5 x 11.5 epson paper.
Is there a way to print these any easier, maybe using a batch method? It would be nice if I could
tell it to print evey image in the folder as a
4x5 and walk away. Is it possible?
Thanks again for your help, I will try your methods on backgrounds.
Chris

Answer
Hi Chris,

Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner!

Something just occurred to me -- I have a similar problem when I use my HP all-in-one inkjet printer, when I print anything. And what's happening there is that the printer itself is to blame -- in other words, there is a limitation on my printer as to how much of the page it prints to, even though I specify to print the whole page.

Do you think this could be what's going on with your printer? What kind of printer are you using, by the way? I wonder if you've got the drivers you need for it, too.

Can you post back and let me know what kind of printer you have? I'll do some research on it, and see if maybe we're dealing with a hardware issue here, instead of software.

And yes, you should be able to just tell it to print what you want, and walk away.

In the meantime, I'm meeting tomorrow with one of the photographers I do freelance work for, and I'll talk to her about this. I'll see if she's ever run into this, because she and her staff use Picture Package all the time.

I'll post back and let you know what I find out!

Sorry I don't have a definite answer for you tonight, but I'll keep on this and we'll get it worked out. Thanks for being patient!

Talk to you soon,

Lisa

I've used Photoshop since the release of version 2. I taught college commercial art and graphic design for 10 years, and within that realm, taught Photoshop at every level, and with each successive product upgrade. My experience with Photoshop is thus extensive and well-rounded, from photo retouching to color adjustment to incorporating Photoshop and ImageReady into Web design. I am primarily a Mac user (since 1985), but am also PC-savvy.

Experience

I've been a graphic designer for 22 years, was a national magazine art director, a designer for the Department of Defense, a college art instructor, and have my own freelance Web and graphic design business, LittleWorks (www.little-works.com). I've also worked for several printing companies, in both prepress and art.
