Adobe Photoshop/apply image command

Question
I'm new to PS and working thru some on-line tutorials at http://www.planetphotoshop.com/tutorials_effects.html

When I try to use the apply image command, my source image and target image are the same.  I don't have a choice to select the 2 images I have open.

What am I doing wrong?  I tried to use the help command in PS but didn't help.

Hi Peggy,

What are you trying to merge? Is there any way you can send me the two images, or instead, give me a detailed description of what tutorial you're trying to work with?

I'm working on a big project at the moment and have a tight deadline so I'm not going to be available here for a few days. But don't you have my email address?

If not, it's lizal@little-works.com. Email me there with your response, and the images, if you can send them, and I'll help you from there! It'll be easier if I can respond to email for a few days rather than have to post on this site.

This is kind of a tricky situation, anyway, using Apply Image, and it's hard to make it work some times. But it's also nearly always one of those "you have to be there" situations, and it'd really help if I could see exactly what you're trying to do, and the images you're using.

I've used Photoshop since the release of version 2. I taught college commercial art and graphic design for 10 years, and within that realm, taught Photoshop at every level, and with each successive product upgrade. My experience with Photoshop is thus extensive and well-rounded, from photo retouching to color adjustment to incorporating Photoshop and ImageReady into Web design. I am primarily a Mac user (since 1985), but am also PC-savvy.

I've also worked for several printing companies, in both prepress and art.
