Adobe Photoshop/cropping a rounded rectangle

Question
Hi! I'm making a wonderful banner for flash and in order to create a rounded corner jpeg from a square image, ive been selecting rectangular marquee to my size, then select , modify, smooth and changing pixels to create the rounded corners.
When i then press crop, it doesnt seem to save or show as the rounded image i was hoping for when i try to save to web.
It's to go on a white background.
Ive had paint shop pro for 2 years and made the move to photoshop cs 1 month ago!
Apart from this sticking point i must say its a zillion times better program!
Any ideas?
Simon

Answer
Dear Simon,

Photoshop doesn't has the capability to cut the rounded corner image, even if you create the circle and try to crop that, you will not be succeeded.

If you want to make rounded corner square, make the corner's outside area in the same color of the background of the page.

I hope this will help. Feel free to ask anything further
