Adobe Photoshop/file sizes for email
Expert: Huma Riaz - 1/13/2006
QuestionThanks for your suggestion however the reciepeint does not with to have an eps and the LZW compression idea does not seem to adequately reduce file size. However, I got to thinking that if I "save for web" in photoshop before importing the graphic to Quark that it might very well work. The problem seems to be that when photohop saves for web all embedded paths seem to be removed. Runaround type then becomes difficult in Quark.
Do you happen to know how to recreate these paths that I'd originally created in Photoshop in Quark? Or is there a way to save for web and NOT lose the paths already created in photoshop?
Thanks.

Hello.
I am relatively new to emailing resumes and use of Quark and photoshop. As an illustrator and designer I need to be able to send a resume with art samples AND keep the file size from being too large.
I'm using Quark 6.0 and photoshop CS and importing a tiff image at a resolution of 72 into Quark and then working type around the image. The resume looks great however the file size is almost 2MB large. Is there a way I can more effectively reduce file size by saving the image in phtoshop first in another format? I prefer not to use a PICT image if possible as it distorts colors and definition.
Thanks.

Try to use EPS format, with its compression ON, or use TIFF with LZW compression
If not satisfied, you can ask me further

AnswerHey Rich,
I am afraid save for web option will not give you the opportunity to save the path, as the file formats are limited to JPG and GIF or PNG, and the path can be saved in EPS or perhaps TIFF format.
You can however try with TIFF format with LZW compression ON as I always does my compression with this one.
